Scanner (Scan View)¶
The Scan View records the serial number of each PV module at its position within the string. This way each physical panel is linked to its serial number for plant traceability and for cross-referencing with factory data (flash test) and with anomalies.
Available in Thermal + Scanning projects: from the camera icon on the project card, the table menu (Scan View) or the breadcrumb dropdown.
Permissions
All users with access can see the scanning progress. Scanning and deleting serial numbers requires editing permission. Manage Keys requires AI tools. See Roles and permissions.
Before scanning
The project's strings must have their modules defined (number of slots, orientation and expected serial number length). If clicking a string does nothing, it means its modules aren't prepared yet: contact the project's manager.
The map¶
Each string is colored according to its progress:

From zoom level 18 the labels with each string's ID are shown (Map Settings › Markers Visibility). In Map Settings you can also choose the background orthophoto and the strings' opacity.
Selecting a string and a module¶
- Click a string: the map zooms in, the string splits into its modules and the side panel opens (on mobile, a bottom panel that can be raised or lowered).
- Click a module on the map or in the Modules list to select it (it's highlighted in orange).
Module colors: green = valid serial number, orange = incorrect length, blue = empty. At high zoom levels each module's number is shown.
The panel shows:

Scanning modes¶

In Auto Scan choose the direction: Top → Bottom / Bottom → Top for vertical strings, or Left → Right / Right → Left for horizontal ones. Scanning starts at the first module in that direction.
Input modes¶
Select a module first; then choose one of the three buttons:
Camera¶
Opens the phone or tablet's rear camera. Frame the barcode inside the white box: once it's read steadily the box flashes green and the number is saved. The red button closes the camera.
Note
The camera reads Code 128 barcodes, the usual format on module labels.
External scanner (USB or Bluetooth)¶
For readers that work as a keyboard. With this mode active the application waits for
readings (Waiting for external scanner...): each reading ending in Enter or Tab is saved to the selected
module.
Manual¶
Opens Manual Barcode Entry: type the number in Barcode S/N and click Save (or Enter).
Overwriting
Saving to a module that already has a number replaces it without asking, and saving an empty field deletes it. Check the selected module before scanning.
Deleting a serial number¶
Click the trash icon for the module in the list and confirm in Confirm Deletion. The module's slot remains empty.
Manage Keys¶
Requires AI tools. Desktop only.
Rename Data Fields lets you rename the selected string's attributes and change their values (for example the orientation Vertical (V) / Portrait (P) or the expected digits). Click Apply Changes and reload the page to see the changes.
System fields
Don't rename id, orientation, digits, ROW, CB or STRING: the scanner needs them to function.
Tips¶
- Work string by string and check the Scan Status before moving to the next one.
- An orange string or module indicates numbers with a length different from expected: check them.
- The overall progress and duplicate numbers can be found in the Modules tab of the Project Dashboard.
