In grid view each card shows the image with the anomaly marked, the class, the locator and the temperatures. Click to select it or Inspect to open the viewer.

ΔT

An anomaly's ΔT is the difference between its maximum temperature and the area's mean temperature. It's the value the PDF report uses for the IEC classification.

Downloading data

The download button opens Download Data:

Format Result
XLSX Anomalies sheet with the visible columns; the image is a link
CSV / JSON Same columns plus the image URL
PDF Generates a Thermal Spot Report (one page per image with the anomalies marked and their parameters) in the background. Download it from the task panel. Maximum 1000 images

Choose All Anomalies (all filtered ones) or Selected Anomalies.

Anomaly Viewer

Opens when you click an image in the table:

Mode Description
Thermal Thermal image with the anomaly marked
RGB Visual image
Compare Thermal and RGB side by side
Overlay RGB overlaid on the thermal image. RGB Alignment adjusts opacity, scale, offset and angle (the adjustment is remembered per camera model)

Mouse wheel to zoom, drag to pan and double-click to reset.

Generating a report (Report)

The Report button opens Report Generator:

  • Download full report: downloads the project's full report, if it exists.
  • Customize It: generates a custom report in 4 steps.
Step Content
1 · General View Choose which classes to include and, for each, the ΔT range (Select All / Select None)
2 · Economic Impact Include Affected DC (kW), Affected DC (%), Sunlight Hours (2100 h/year by default) and Energy Price (currency $, € or £). The table shows the estimated loss per class
3 · Detailed View Columns for the anomalies list: coordinates, type, ΔT, locator, primary and secondary image. Detailed String Status adds crops of the selected layout
4 · Finalize Report Summary, report language (English or Español) and Generate

If the report has more than 50 anomalies it's generated in the background (you'll see a notice) and downloaded from the task panel; if not, a PDF preview opens.

How the economic impact is estimated: based on the project's first module type, the number of modules each class affects is calculated (a whole string for String and Polarity), and a loss factor per class is applied. The energy lost is affected kW × sunlight hours, and the economic loss is energy × price.

IEC TS 62446-3 classification included in the report:

Class C1 C2 C3
Cell ΔT < 10 °C 10 ≤ ΔT ≤ 40 °C ΔT > 40 °C
Soiling ΔT ≤ 40 °C ΔT > 40 °C —
Multi-Cell — ΔT ≤ 7 °C ΔT > 7 °C
Diode, Module — Always —
String, Polarity — — Always

Note

The project must have its modules configured (in Edit Project) in order to generate the report.

Images

Summary

Cards with the total number of images, the thermal ones and the RGB ones.

Uploading images

Requires image management.

  1. Expand Upload Images and drag the images or click Add files (JPG files from the drone, including radiometric thermal R-JPEGs).
  2. The application analyzes each file and shows whether it is Radiometric, whether it has GPS, and whether it has a Twin (its thermal/RGB pair, matched by name _T / _V or by capture time).
  3. The upload starts automatically. When it finishes you'll see All files uploaded successfully.

Web upload limit

Up to 1000 thermal images or 100 RGB images per batch from the browser. For larger volumes contact STR.

Images table

Element Description
Search / All · Thermal · RGB tabs / date Filters
Select All Select everything, without anomalies, with locator assigned or without locator
Run Anomaly Inference Automatic anomaly detection on the selected radiometric thermal images. Before running it you choose the Model (each one shows its precision, recall and mAP) and the Confidence threshold (0.25 by default). Runs in the background and saves the detections. Requires AI
Trash Permanently deletes the selected images and their detections. Requires AI
Columns and List/Grid View

Columns: Filename, Type (and camera), Attributes (Radiometric, GPS, Twin), Coordinates (lat, lon, alt), Upload Date and the magnifying glass to inspect.

Image inspector

Thermal inspector

Opens from the magnifying glass of a radiometric thermal image.

Left bar:

Tool Description Permission
Select & Pan Move and zoom —
Point Analysis Temperature at a point AI
Rectangle Area / Polygon Area Max/min/mean temperature in an area. The polygon closes by clicking near the first point AI
Temperature Line Temperatures along a line AI
Auto-detect Automatically proposes anomalies in the image (they must be saved) AI
Overlay / side by side Shows the twin RGB image over the thermal one or next to it, with alignment adjustment —
Change Color Palette Original, Ironbow, White Hot, Black Hot, Rainbow, Plasma —
  • Mouse wheel to zoom; Alt + drag or middle button to pan with any tool.
  • With a palette other than Original, the color scale lets you narrow the temperature range by dragging its ends (Reset Scale to reset it).

Tip

Choose a palette other than Original to see the temperatures of the measurements.

Right panel (Thermal Measurements):

  • Global Max / Global Min of the image.
  • Radiometric Parameters: distance, humidity, emissivity, reflected temperature and ambient temperature used to calculate the temperatures. With AI, Edit lets you adjust them (DJI cameras only; ambient temperature only on H30T and M4T) and the image is recalculated automatically. Adjusted indicates that some original value was out of range.
  • Measurements: one card per measurement with its mean/max/min temperature, the Defect Class (Cell, Diode, Module, Multi-Cell, Soiling, String, Polarity, Other or Custom) and the Locator.
    • Save as detection saves the measurement as an anomaly (AI). Save all saves all of them.
    • Changing the class of an already saved anomaly is saved instantly (editing).
    • The trash icon deletes a measurement; Delete all deletes all of the image's measurements (AI).
  • If you close with unsaved measurements, the application will ask for confirmation.

RGB inspector

For RGB or non-radiometric images: zoom and pan, overlay with the twin thermal image, and Segmentation (AI), which searches for objects by text (PV Solar modules by default), by example boxes or by example points. Results are shown in purple (Shift + click on one to remove it) and are not saved.

Layout

Requires image management. Manages the project's orthophotos (layouts).

Sub-tab Description Permission
Overview Cards for the existing layouts: open, georeference (pencil) or delete (trash) Delete: AI
Generate Generates an orthophoto from the flight images AI
Upload Uploads an already generated orthophoto Image management

Generating an orthophoto

  1. In Generate, filter and select the images (all images from the most recent date, by default).
  2. Click Configure & Generate. The quality check warns about images without GPS, more than 1 km from the project, or with mixed dates.
  3. For thermal images choose Image Native Defaults or Override Parameters (emissivity, distance, humidity, reflected temperature and ambient temperature).
  4. Confirm & Run Generation. The process runs on the processing server and can take a while; follow it in the task panel, where you can also pause, cancel or resume it.

Uploading an orthophoto

Same as on the map: name, a PNG, JPG or TIFF file (or URL) and, for PNG/JPG, the South-West and North-East corners. GeoTIFFs are georeferenced automatically. See Map › Orthophotos.

Georeferencing

The pencil icon on a layout opens the control point editor. See Map › Georeferencing with control points.
