Map (Map View)

The Map shows the plant over satellite imagery with all its layers: orthophotos, strings and modules, detected anomalies and drone images. From here you review anomalies on the ground, build the plant's electrical layout, and link detections to the string or module they belong to.

It opens from the project list, the project card or the breadcrumb menu (Map View).

What you can do based on your role

All users with access to the project can view the map, filter anomalies and inspect images. Linking detections requires editing permission. Uploading and georeferencing orthophotos requires image management. Creating strings, generating modules, editing electrical IDs and using segmentation requires AI tools. See Roles and permissions.

Concepts

Term Meaning
String (locator) Polygon representing a string in the plant. It has an electrical ID (e.g. 4.5.30)
Locator template Order of the fields that make up the electrical ID (e.g. INVERTER.BOX.STRING), defined in the project
Module Each panel in a string. Its ID is the string's ID plus a number: 4.5.30.1, 4.5.30.2…
Anomaly Detected defect (Cell, Diode, Soiling…) linked to a string or module
Layout / orthophoto Georeferenced aerial image of the plant (RGB or thermal) overlaid on the map

Map Settings

Layout

  • Base Layer: choose which orthophoto or layout is shown (None (Default) for none). Each option shows its type: Thermal, RGB, Layout Image or Orthophoto.
  • Layer Opacity: transparency of the orthophoto.
  • Thermal filter (thermal orthophotos only): shows the temperature range and lets you choose the Color Palette (Original, Ironbow, White Hot, Black Hot, Rainbow, Plasma) and narrow the range with the slider. Click Apply to apply the changes.
  • Pencil: opens the georeference editor (see below). Requires image management.
  • Add New Layout: uploads a new orthophoto. Requires image management.
  • Trash (Delete orthophoto): permanently deletes the selected orthophoto. Requires AI tools.

Objects and Markers

Control Description
Strings Opacity Transparency of the strings
Markers Visibility Shows labels with each string's ID (only from zoom level 18)
Modules Visibility Loads and shows all the project's modules (may take a while on large plants)
Module ID Labels Shows each module's number
Zoom Level Current zoom and how much more is needed to see the labels

Images

Control Description
Images Visibility Shows the drone images as icons at their GPS position (from zoom level 15)
Anomalies Only Only images with detections
Filter by Source Show Thermal and/or RGB (Visual) images

Anomaly Filters

Same filter as the funnel button (see below).

Anomalies

Anomalies are drawn with a color per class:

Class Color
String Orange
Tracker Reddish brown
Multi-Cell, Cell Red
Diode Green
Module Yellow
Soiling, Vegetation Purple
Others Gray

At low zoom levels (below 18) they are grouped into white circles with the number of anomalies in the area.

Filtering

In Anomaly Filters (Visible Anomaly Types) each card shows a class and how many anomalies it has. Click on it to hide or show it. When enabled you can narrow its Temperature Range. Select All and Select None enable or disable all of them.

Viewing the detail

Click an anomaly: the map zooms in and a panel opens with its class, its ID (locator), the temperature, the thermal and RGB images with the detection marked (button to view them full screen) and additional details (ΔT, locator…).

Drone images

Enable Map Settings › Images › Images Visibility. The icon color shows the status of its detections:

Color Meaning
Blue No detections
Red Has detections not linked to any object
Orange Some detections linked
Green All detections linked

Clicking an icon opens the image panel:

  • Inspect: opens the thermal or RGB inspector.
  • AI Analytics & Detections: detections found and which locator each one is linked to. The trash icon removes the link (requires editing permission).
  • GPS Telemetry: the image's coordinates and the Assign an object button.
  • Open raw S3 asset: opens the original image in another tab.

Linking a detection to an object

Requires editing permission.

  1. In the image panel click Assign an object.
  2. Drag the image's icon onto the object (anomaly, module or string). The object under the icon is highlighted in blue.
  3. Release: in the Assign Detection to Layout dialog click the detection you want to link. Already linked ones show Linked and can be unlinked with the trash icon.

Linking to strings or modules

While any anomalies are visible, you can only drop onto anomalies. To link to a string or module, hide all anomalies first (Anomaly Filters › Select None).

Note

Dragging the icon does not change the image's GPS position: it only creates the link.

Strings and modules

Strings are drawn in blue. Click one to open its panel (String: ID) with its properties and the Modules in String list. Clicking a module in the list zooms the map to it.

Panel buttons (require AI tools):

Button Description
Generate modules Splits the string into modules
Edit electrical ID Edits the electrical ID
Delete string Deletes the string and all its modules (irreversible)

Creating a string (Create locator)

  1. Click the dashed square button.
  2. Click on the map to add vertices and double-click to close the polygon.
  3. In the Create Locator dialog, fill in the project's template fields (the ID is built automatically; you'll see the preview id → a.b.c). You can add custom fields with Add field.
  4. Click Create locator. Duplicate IDs are not allowed.

Generating modules

In the string panel click Generate modules:

Field Description
Columns / Rows Number of columns and rows of modules (28 × 1 by default)
Min overlap Minimum overlap of each cell with the string to keep it (0–1)
Numbering Numbering order: Horizontal, Vertical, S-Shape, U-Shape or Custom (by clicking the modules in the desired order)
Start at First number
Start corner Starting corner
Update string boundary to match modules Adjusts the string's outline to exactly match the union of the modules
  1. Preview on map shows the proposed grid without saving.
  2. Apply N modules saves the modules. Replaces any modules the string had.

Apply to similar strings: after the preview, find strings of similar size (Size tolerance (%)), choose which ones to include and apply the same grid to all of them. It runs in the background as a Bulk Generate Modules task, visible in the task panel.

Electrical ID Builder

Mode Use
Only this feature Corrects the field values of a single string, module or anomaly
All features in project Reorders or changes the fields that make up the ID of every element and updates the project's template. Click Preview changes to see what will change before applying

Choose the layer (Strings, Modules or Anomalies) and the Separator. With Cascade to modules the modules' IDs are updated along with their string.

Orthophotos

Adding one (Add New Orthophoto Layout)

Requires image management.

  1. Layout Information: layout name.
  2. Image Source: drag a PNG, JPG or TIFF file or paste a URL.
  3. Georeference Bounds: for georeferenced TIFF files the coordinates are read from the file itself. For PNG/JPG give the South-West and North-East corners.
  4. Save Orthophoto.

TIFF files are automatically optimized for fast display. Thermal TIFF files keep the temperature scale.

Georeferencing with control points

Requires image management. Using the pencil icon in Map Settings › Layout:

  1. Click Add Control Points and click at least 3 recognizable points in the image (P1, P2, P3…).
  2. For each point, select it and click its real position on the reference map (or type its latitude and longitude). The Electrical layout toggle overlays the strings as a guide.
  3. Click Georeference and confirm: the previous georeference data is replaced and the orthophoto is repositioned on the map.

Accuracy

Zoom in with the mouse wheel before placing each point: the editor loads the image at full resolution so you can place it precisely. Use points spread across the whole orthophoto, not in a line.

You can save and load the points with Export JSON / Import JSON.

Finding objects with AI (Segmentation)

Requires AI tools. The wand button opens Locate objects with Segmentation, which searches for objects in the selected orthophoto within the map's visible area.

Mode Use
Text Type what you're looking for (PV Solar modules by default)
Box example Draw a box around one or more example objects
Point example Click on one or more example objects
  • Tile size: High detail (more precise, slower), Balanced or Fast.
  • Preview tiling on map: shows the tiles that will be processed.
  • Confidence threshold: minimum confidence of the results.
  • Run Segmentation: launches the search as a background task. Results appear in purple; click one to see its confidence and area.
